王鹏,天津大学管理与经济学部市场营销系副教授。于南开大学取得本科和硕士学位,于美国亚利桑那大学取得博士学位。研究领域为营销模型、创新创业、娱乐产业营销、平台战略等。他的理论和实证研究成果发表在International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM)IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management等国际期刊,并曾担任Journal of RetailingJournal of Management Science and Engineering等期刊的匿名审稿人。

报告内容摘要:

The motion picture market presents several unique challenges to the supply chain management field. First, movie box offices are largely unpredictable. Second, movies are perishable goods with uniform ticket pricing, making the standard demand-smoothing tools such as inventory optimization or price adjustment not applicable. Third, the movie industry is one of the few industries where upstream suppliers (i.e., distributors) have better demand knowledge than downstream supply chain members (i.e., exhibitors). Inspired by the above observations, we adopt the information design approach to analyze how movie distributors' strategically share their information with exhibitors. Our results highlight the significant role of demand uncertainty in the strategic interaction between movie distributors and exhibitors.
