报告摘要：

In today’s research arena, research postgraduates are expected to learn how to write good research papers during their postgraduate studies. It is very common to take around 12 months to make a paper being accepted from the first submission to the final acceptance. In this connection, we have to well plan every single step to prepare a good journal paper during the postgraduate studies. The first section of this seminar aims to address some key issues related to a good preparation for journal paper.  The critical issues including Why Publishing Research Articles is Important; Journal selection; Attributes of a good journal paper; From good research to good writing; Criteria of a Good Research Publication; High impact journal; The Impact of Article Titles on Citation Hits; What is Peer Review Process; Structure of a manuscript; How to assess the novelty of your research; Criteria for Acceptance; and Ethics in Scientific Writings.

The second section of this seminar aims to introduce the opportunities of joining PolyU via various channels including Undergraduate Student Exchange Programme; PhD Programme Admission; Joint Supervision Scheme of PhD students; Postdoctoral Programme; and Hong Kong Scholar Program.

人物简介：

Professor Felix Chan received his BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University, UK, and obtained his MSc and PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London, UK. Prior to join The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Chan worked in various institutions including University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK; University of South Australia; and The University of Hong Kong. Professor Chan is now working at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also the Associate Dean (Research) serving the Faculty of Engineering. His current research interests are Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operations and Production Management, Distribution Coordination, Systems Modelling and Simulation, AI techniques; Industrial 4.0. To date, he has published 16 book chapters, over 330 refereed international journal papers and 270 peer reviewed international conference papers, h index= 36 under the Web of Science. He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong.
