报告摘要：Conducting qualitative research is an interesting and adventurous journey. It allows us to engages with the industry through interactions such as interviews. While we are often enthusiastic about the empirical field work that exposes us to the real world and issues faced by the people, organisations and society, we must also go through the long and sometimes the tedious and uninteresting process of getting the work published and simply produced in a written format for academic audience. We know that the work of a qualitative researcher is different from that of a journalist; and it is not as structured as quantitative research method, as we hope it can be. In this seminar, I look forward to sharing with you some of my experience in conducting qualitative research, particularly with case study method, as well as in publishing in high-quality journals.
人物简介：
Carmen Leong is an Information Systems researcher at the UNSW Business School, Sydney. She received her PhD degree from The National University of Singapore. She is enthusiastic about discovering how technologies can bring changes to life, of organization and of individuals. She has conducted more than 35 case studies in Indonesia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Germany, to understand the use of digital technologies 1) in organizing for social purposes such as entrepreneurship, rural poverty, disaster response, mass mobilization and 2) in the process of transforming an organization and pre-existing management practices. Prior to entering academia, she worked for four years in the private and public sectors in Singapore and Malaysia. Carmen has published at MIS Quarterly (FT50), Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and International Journal of Information Management.
