盛仕斌博士现任美国伯明翰阿拉巴马大学市场营销学教授。研究领域集中于营销战略,战略管理,创新创业,新兴经济体的制度环境等。他已经在市场营销和管理学的国际主流期刊上发表学术论文50多篇,其中UTD 期刊5篇及其他FT50 期刊多篇,包括Journal of Marketing,Journal of Operations Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research 等。盛教授已多次获国际学术会议最佳论文奖,目前是多家国际学术期刊的编审委员会成员。
报告摘要:
Despite the growing attention to the role of home country institutions in studies of emerging market multinational enterprises (EMNEs), limited research has explored how cultural-cognitive institutions in the home country affect EMNE internationalization. In this study, we investigate the impact of gambling culture, an important aspect of cultural-cognitive institution, on EMNE internationalization. We propose that gambling culture not only encourages firm decision-makers to pursue high-risk strategies, but also enhances stakeholders’ tolerance and support for such risky initiatives. We further propose that the relationship between gambling culture and EMNE internationalization is contingent upon firm resource slack, regional marketization, and economic policy uncertainty. Our empirical analysis of Chinese publicly listed companies from 2008 to 2019 provides support for our propositions.
