报告内容摘要:

This paper examines the impact of perceived stress on entrepreneurs’ engagement in unethical pro-organizational behaviour (UPB), with a specific focus on the moderating role of gender. Drawing on the Conservation of Resources theory, we argue that when entrepreneurs perceive threats to their personal and organizational resources, they may rationalize unethical actions as necessary for the survival of their business. Across three studies—an experiment, a survey, and a behavioural task involving actual misconduct—we consistently find that perceived stress positively predicts UPB. However, this relationship is significantly moderated by gender. Male entrepreneurs are more likely to respond to stress with UPB, while female entrepreneurs are less inclined to do so. These findings underscore the importance of stress management support in entrepreneurship.
