Longling County in Yunnan is a designated assistance county of Dalian University of Technology (DUT). In recent years, to enhance the efficiency of local resource development, Professor Hu Xiangpei’s team has leveraged interdisciplinary and technological strengths to pioneer a tech-driven approach to rural revitalization, focusing on building distinctive local brands.

Longling is known for its local specialties, such as coffee, avocados, and Huanglong Jade.However, a lot of challenges limit farmers’ profitability, including low yields, fragmented production and distribution, and underdeveloped logistics infrastructure. To address these issues, Professor Hu Xiangpei’s E-commerce and Smart Logistics Innovation Team has conducted multiple field visits to implement industrial support programs, promoting digital marketing campaigns to help local products break through sales bottlenecks.

Over the years, multidisciplinary teams from DUT have implemented targeted strategies tailored to Longling’s features and practical needs, efficiently aligning educational and R&D resources to refine precised assistance initiatives. Moving forward, DUT will continue to focus on Longling’s industrial practice and propose more solutions to advance rural revitalization.
