The 3rd Annual Conference on Frontiers of Engineering Management Held in Dalian

The 3rd Annual Conference on Frontiers of Engineering Management (FEM2025) convened in Dalian on July 5-6, 2025. Centered on "AI Empowering Engineering Management," the event attracted over 800 experts, scholars, industry representatives, and university faculty and students from China and abroad.

Conference Venue

At the opening ceremony, Xiang Changle, Secretary of the CPC Dalian University of Technology Committee, delivered a speech expressing his hope to further advance interdisciplinary research on artificial intelligence and engineering management, explore new paradigms for engineering management in the new era, and address the development needs of national major engineering projects. Lu Chunfang, Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers of Engineering Management (FEM), introduced the journal's development and its brand annual conference. Gao Ziyou, President of the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China, analyzed the value of AI-empowered engineering management and called for frontier explorations focusing on technology integration pathways.

During the conference, keynote speeches were delivered by Hu Wenrui (FEM Editor-in-Chief of the Second Editorial Board), Xiang Qiao (FEM Deputy Editor-in-Chief), and editorial board members Chai Hongfeng, Wang Zili, Arnold Tukker, Fang Dongping, and Hu Xiangpei. Their presentations covered engineering, aviation, finance, energy management, and AI, sharing cutting-edge research and practical engineering experiences. The annual meeting featured two special forums—"AI-Empowered Engineering Management" and "Management Challenges in Major Engineering Projects"—alongside eight thematic forums: Industrial Engineering & Smart Manufacturing; Construction Engineering & Smart Building; Energy & Environmental Systems; Transportation Engineering Systems Management; Logistics & Supply Chain Management; Information Management & Information Systems; Technology Management & Innovation; and Systems Engineering Theory & Applications.

Session chairs included Yang Hong (Beijing Aerospace Vehicle Overall Design Department), Tang Jiafu (FEM Editorial Board Member), Ye Xin (Dean, School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology), and Sun Yutao (Secretary of the Party Committee, School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology).

In his closing report, Ding Lieyun, FEM Executive Editor-in-Chief, summarized the conference and emphasized the platform's role in uniting global experts to pioneer new frontiers in engineering management, collectively writing a new chapter for China's engineering discipline.

The annual conference is jointly hosted by Frontiers of Engineering Management (an official journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), Dalian University of Technology, and the Society of Management Science and Engineering of China, with its organization undertaken by the School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology.
