Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China announced the evaluation results of the centrally received application projects. The School of Economics and Management at Dalian University of Technology achieved a breakthrough for the first time with over 20 approved projects, totaling 22, including 1 Key Program, 12 General Programs, and 9 Youth Programs. The approval rate for new projects surpassed the 40% threshold for the first time, reaching 44.90%, which is nearly four times the national average funding rate. Both figures have set new historical highs for the School.

Led by Professor Ye Xin, the Key Program "Research on Intelligent Social Risk Early Warning Based on Multimodal Data Fusion" received funding approval. The country's major needs in proactively preventing and resolving social risks are addressed by this program, which focuses on theoretical research and application verification in areas such as the evolution mechanism of risks in intelligent societies, intelligent social risk identification and early warning methods based on multi-modal data fusion. The aim is to provide a theoretical foundation and intelligent decision support for early warning of risks in intelligent societies. This program's approval signifies yet another significant accomplishment for the "Intelligent Social Governance Team," headed by Professor Ye Xin, in the direction of social governance. The "Intelligent Social Governance Team" has long been devoted to both theoretical research and practical application in social governance, emergency management, digital government, etc. It established the "National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for E-government Simulation" and has successively undertaken more than 10 national-level scientific and technological research projects, including the National "863" Program, the National "Ninth Five-Year Plan", "Tenth Five-Year Plan", "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", and "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Support Projects, as well as the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" and "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" National Key Research and Development Projects. Additionally, the team has also undertaken over 20 national-level basic research projects funded by the National Natural Science Fund of China, including key programs (3) and general programs (General & Youth). The team has won 17 provincial and ministerial awards, including the Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Award and the Liaoning Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Award. The research results have been applied to more than 300 e-government application engineering projects at the national, provincial, ministerial, municipal, and county (district) levels, creating significant economic and social benefits and receiving praise from national leaders.

The National Natural Science Fund of China is one of the main funding channels for basic research in China and an important carrier and platform for basic research and applied basic research. The approval of funding is an important indicator to measure the level of scientific and technological innovation capabilities as well as basic research capabilities of universities.
