1980

On June 20, 1980, the representatives of the Chinese and the US governments signed the Memorandum of Understanding for jointly establishing the National Center for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development (at Dalian) in Beijing.

1980

In August 1980, the National Center for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development (at Dalian) and Department of Management Engineering were established as the same entity, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) has taken the first step in modern management education in China.

1984

In September 1984, the first MBA class with 39 students was initiated by the National Center for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development (at Dalian) and University at Buffalo, the state University of New York, which was the start of MBA education in China.

1985

In November 1985, DUT School of Management was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, which was one of the earliest domestic management schools.

2006

In January 2006, with the approval of the central government and the support of DUT, China Business Executive Academy, Dalian was established as a state level education and training base for senior executives of large central backbone enterprises.

2006

In December 2006 in the gathering of Global MBA Elite --Award Ceremony of China and MBA Figures Selection Event, DUT Schools of Management achieved the only Academy award-- Chinese MBA Education Pathfinder Award.

2010

On July 31, 2010, Faculty of Management and Economics(FME) was established by merging School of Management and Department of Economics at DUT.

2019

On February 27, 2019, Faculty of Management and Economics was changed into School of Economics and Management.
